Iceland and the next Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Masters tournament will arrive in the blink of an eye. North America will have two teams represent the region in Reykjavik. Those teams will be decided in the Challengers Finals event. The last four teams of that competition still have to be determined. 100 Thieves, Team Envy, Version1, and XSET have claimed their spot. The VCT NA Stage 2: Challengers 2 Main Event will pit the following teams against each other:
Half of the teams are those that fell short in the Challengers 1 Main Event. The remainder fought their way through yet another wild 128 team open qualifier. The top four teams will guarantee themselves a chance at Iceland while the others are relegated to the next stage of the Valorant Champions Tour. Stage 2: Challengers 2 is going to be intense.
Cloud9 Blue taking on T1 may be the most exciting series from the first round play. The two teams look nothing like those may remember from NA Valorant of old. New acquisitions have added to the already talented rosters. T1 has the most recent victory between them with a 2:0 in Stage 1: Challengers 3. They have both been fairly hot as of late, however. Cloud9 has victories over Gen.G and Immortals while T1 qualified for the Stage 2: Challengers 2 Main Event by ensuring FaZe Clan would not have a chance at Iceland. This one is up in the air, but expect the losing team to make a vengeful run through the Lower Bracket.
For those unaware, it may come as a shock to learn that Sentinels qualified through Challengers 2 rather than Challengers 1. They were actually beaten by Built By Gamers in one of the most surprising NA upsets thus far. Anything can happen in a best-of-three Valorant series. Never count Andbox out, but never ever doubt Sentinels. The most obvious result is Sentinels decimating Andbox and advancing. All eyes will be on this match to see if that happens or to see if Andbox takes it. Either will be a huge talking point for the rest of the tournament.
TSM is ready to show off the hard work it took to get back on top. Immortals could easily make all of that hard work meaningless. There are truly no bad match ups in the Upper Quarterfinals of Stage 2: Challengers 2. Immortals is the reason TSM did not make it out of the Challengers 1 open qualifier. Of course, revenge is always on the mind of NA Valorant teams. Two juggernauts are going head to head. Neither team will show mercy and it is anyone’s game. This one will be a show.
As previously mentioned, BBG made it to the first Main Event by defeating Sentinels. They then lost two in a row as they exited the tournament. That made many spectators double down on their win against Sentinels being a fluke. BBG could silence all of that with a solid showing against an NRG team who hasn’t found too much success lately. NRG are on the tail end of a solid victory over Luminosity Gaming, though. That is no easy team to overcome. This is, to a lesser extent, another Andbox vs. Sentinels situation. Only a select few probably predict a BBG win here, but it is not impossible. This is a series that could shake up the entire Stage 2: Challengers 2 Main Event tournament.
