The VCT NA Challengers 2 Qualifier is in its Round of 8. Four teams will advance to the Main Event and take on those who qualified from the Challengers 1 Main Event. Day 1 consisted of 100 Thieves versus Andbox as well as FaZe Clan versus Built By Gamers. After a grueling journey from the Round of 128, two of the aforementioned teams had their qualifying dreams pushed back until next time.

100 Thieves 2:0 Andbox

Ascent ended just about as quickly as it began. Andbox was never able to get it going against 100 Thieves. Peter “Asuna” Mazuryk was shutting the opposition down left and right. Another Ace was even mixed in with his domination of Andbox. 10 attacking rounds went to 100T on the back of Asuna‘s 20 kill effort. During that, Andbox only defended two times. After halftime, 100 Thieves took a super quick three rounds and a 13:2 victory came their way.

Icebox was next with Andbox delivering a bit stiffer competition. That still wasn’t enough to put a dent in the North American First Strike Champions. Joshua “steel” Nissan locked down the tundra as Killjoy. He had several 2K rounds and a couple 3K efforts. After switching sides with a 7:5 deficit, 100 Thieves attacked with no mercy. Andbox was only able to defend against 100T three times, leaving the Thieves to take the map 13:10. They move on to the VCT NA Challengers 2 Main Event.

FaZe Clan 2:1 Built By Gamers

Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen led FaZe Clan to a solid first map victory against Built By Gamers. 25 kills as Brimstone was more than enough to take charge. While BBG had some solid attacking rounds, FaZe Clan was able to switch sides with a 7:5 lead. They were then able to take their first five second half rounds by simply eliminating BBG from the equation. BBG held on for a moment with three successful defensives, but a final single attacking round gave FaZe Clan the 13:8 victory on Bind.

Ascent saw the same final score, but in reverse. Built By Gamers locked it down on defense. It was a solid showing by each member, keeping all of FaZe Clan but one at 12 kills or less. 8:4 was the score line at halftime. FaZe Clan started off hot as the defenders. Three straight rounds went in their favor. BBG retaliated with three rounds of their own. One more went to FaZe, but BBG fought hard to finish it with two more. BBG defeated FaZe 13:8 on Ascent.

The third map of the series was Haven. The only three site location in Valorant played host to the finale of the day’s action. Built By Gamers attacked quite well during the first half. FaZe Clan was able to hold their ground, however, and approach halftime with a 7:5 advantage. Three defuses brought BBG back into it to start the second half. FaZe Clan was ready to close it out, though, with five straight attacker side victories. There was no chance for BBG to come back. A final Flawless round saw FaZe Clan advance 13:9 as Marved showed up once again with 23 kills.
