It’s Japan time! The VCT Japan Stage 3 Challengers 1 has just ended and we have the first four teams on our hands that are eager to prove themselves at the Stage 3 Challengers Playoffs.

Don’t panic, this isn’t some brand new small team out to shake up the scene. ZETA DIVISION is simply the new name of the Japanese superteam Absolute JUPITER. The organization rebranded two days before VCT for unknown reasons and set out to make waves once more. If you’ve kept up with our coverage, you’ll know that Crazy Raccoon ripped away the Masters Reykjavík spot from ZETA/JUPITER in the Challengers Finals. Perhaps the rebrand will help them get their revenge or maybe we’ll see history repeat itself. Either way, it should be a fun time.

Crazy Raccoon

Japan’s champion team has made a return, much to nobody’s surprise. Despite a strong run in their region, they were quickly eliminated from Reykjavík by NA’s Version1 and Thailand’s X10 Esports. It will be interesting to see if Crazy Raccoon can make just as far this time around and if Berlin has a ticket with their name on it.

The last time we saw the boys of Northeption, Crazy Raccoon, and FAV Gaming made short work of them in the Stage 2 Challengers Finals. Since then, they’ve swapped out Nerufi for FAV Gaming’s Tenta “ten” Asai. Will poaching their enemy’s player make the difference this time?

BlackBird Ignis

From 2nd place at First Strike Japan to being eliminated from every VCT Qualifier. Such is the story of BlackBird Ignis, one of Japan’s well-known teams. Even though they placed fourth at the Stage 3 Challengers 1, all of their matches were 1:1 ties so not very dominant on that front.

Look forward to seeing these teams at the Stage 3 Challengers Playoffs from August 12 to August 15. The remaining four teams in the Playoffs will be determined at Challengers 2 on July 22 and 23.
