When it comes to picking an Agent in Valorant, many are immediately drawn to the bow-wielding Sova. His insanely powerful Ultimate and accompanying abilities make him a fine choice on any team. However, unlike other Agents, Sova’s abilities can’t be used randomly. In order to play the electrifying Agent correctly, you need to completely understand his abilities and when to use them. Luckily for new Sova players, Run It Back has a new Agent guide on how to do exactly that. Let’s look at the bow-wielding Agent’s abilities and how you can use them to win matches in Valorant.

Looking at sova’s abilties

  • Basic Ability: Shock Bolt | Cost: 100 | Charges: 2
  • Basic Ability: Owl Drone | Cost: 300 | Charges: 1
  • Signature Ability: Recon Bolt | Cost: Free | Charges: 1
  • Ultimate Ability: Hunter’s Fury | Cost: 7 Points | Charges: 1

shock bolt

Equip a bow with shock bolt. Fire to send the explosive bolt forward detonating upon collision and damaging players nearby. Hold Fire to extend the range of the projectile. Alternate Fire to add up to two bounces to this arrow.

Though Shock Bolt may be Sova’s worst ability, it still serves a purpose. When you activate the ability, you’ll have a bow in your hands and the option to shoot an arrow. If you choose to fire, the arrow will electrocute on impact, dealing a minimal amount of damage to anyone in the vicinity. However, you can also choose to have the arrow bounce off two surfaces by right-clicking before you shoot. This allows you to squeeze the arrow into corners that you can’t see immediately see.

Shock Bolt is best served as a damaging ability but don’t expect it to kill any enemies that aren’t severely injured. If you know an enemy is injured and sitting in a corner or room somewhere, a well-placed Shock Bolt should be enough to eliminate them.

owl drone

Equip an owl drone. Fire to deploy and take control of movement of the drone. While in control of the drone, Fire to shoot a marking dart. This dart will reveal the location of any player struck by the dart.

While the Owl Drone may not cause any damage to opponents, it’s a great information gathering tool. The drone will immediately take flight when you activate the ability, allowing you to pilot the drone for around 15 seconds. During this time, you can fly anywhere you want and tag a single enemy with a dart. This dart will tell you exactly where that enemy is for a few seconds. After you fire the dart, the drone expires.

More useful on offense, the Owl Drone should mainly be used before entering a bombsite. This will let you and your teammates know if any enemies are nearby. Remember though, you’re exposed while piloting the drone, so tuck into a dark corner before you activate the ability.

You can check out how the Owl Drone works and the rest of Sova’s abilities in our new YouTube video.

recon bolt

Equip a bow with recon bolt. Fire to send the bolt forward activating upon collision and revealing the location of nearby enemies caught in the line of sight of the bolt. Enemies can destroy this bolt. Hold Fire to extend the range of the projectile. Alternate Fire to add up to two bounces to this arrow.

Easily Sova’s most recognizable ability, Recon Bolt can be utilized in a variety of different ways. Essentially, this is an arrow that can be shot the same way as the Shock Bolt. You can choose to bounce it up to two times by right-clicking before letting it go. The only difference is the Recon Bolt doesn’t damage enemies, but reveals where they are. If an enemy is within direct line of sight of the dart you fired, your entire team can see exactly where they are. The only problem is the enemies can shoot this dart once they know where it is.

There are multiple uses for the Recon Bolt but the main one is firing it wherever you may think enemies are. If the Recon Bolt reveals enemies in the vicinity, then you can watch that area. If no enemies appear after you fire the dart, then you can watch another spot. As you practice more with this ability, you’ll pick up on optimal spots to fire the dart, but that only comes with time.

hunter’s fury

Equip a bow with three long-range, wall-piercing energy blasts. Fire to release a blast in a line in front of Sova dealing damage and revealing the location of enemies caught in the line. This ability can be RE-USED up to two more times while the ability timer is active.

One of the deadliest Ultimate’s in Valorant, Hunter’s Fury is more situational than anything. Yet again, you equip a bow when the ability is activated and shoot up to three powerful blasts that deal massive amounts of damage and also reveal enemy locations. The blast can be fired through walls, but does have a timer. So, you need to shoot the three blasts quickly while also trying to line up where the enemies may be located.

As with most other Ultimates, you really need to pick and choose when to use Hunter’s Fury. You can activate it when defending or attacking a bombsite or if you know where a cluster of enemies are hiding. A solid strategy is to first use the Owl Drone or Recon Bolt to gain intel on the opponent’s location then use Hunter’s Fury to eliminate them.

Run It Back will have a new Agent guide going up every day, so stay tuned for those and all Valorant news!
