Team Liquid entered VALORANT by signing the fish123 roster all the way back on August 7, 2020. Since then, the team has seen plenty of success while moving through various iterations. A few original members have remained, however, and that includes head coach Connor “Sliggy“ Blomfield. Until now that is. Sliggy has announced he is stepping away from the coaching role for Team Liquid’s VALORANT division.
Sliggy announced his departure from his coaching position on Twitter. He thanked his fan’s for their support and mentioned his reason for stepping away. It seems that creative difference and the direction of the team are why he is no longer the coach.
In a follow-up tweet, Sliggy advised that he is still a part of the Team Liquid organization and will begin streaming soon. He will be taking a break from the competitive scene, however. That could see a shift to full-time streaming or a potential move to a team in need of a strong coach.
During his time as the team’s coach, he helped them reach multiple international events and several Grand Final matches throughout VALORANT’S short life. To name a few, look no further than both the 2021 and 2022 Masters Reykjavik tournaments, VALORANT Champions 2021, the 2021 VCT EMEA Last Chance Qualifier, along with Red Bull Home Ground 1 & 2.
He has been noted many times by the Team Liquid players as an incredible coach. There’s no doubt that he will find a new home with ease if that is the path he wishes to take. Until then, best of luck to Sliggy going forward.
