Riot games has unveiled their plans for Valorant’s competitive esports in 2021. Valorant will host a “Champions Tour” in 2021, with Challenger, Master, and finally Champion tiers of events.

The Valorant Champions Tour will feature three Challenger events which will be followed by one Masters event. A total of three Masters events will be held in 2021.The first Challenger events will be held in February, with the first Masters event coming in March in 2021. The most elusive event in Valorant will be in December, where only the best of the best will face each other at the Champions event.

While Challenger events will stay regional, Riot does plan on making Masters events international. This is the statement they gave:

While COVID-19 continues to impact international travel, Masters will be limited to regional events, similar to First Strike. During the stages where Masters tournaments remain regional, they will use the eight team format of Challenger Finals. We’re eager to pivot Masters events into international LANS as soon as possible and will continue to monitor the situation closely for a safe time to do so.

As for now Masters events will be regional and similar in nature to First Strike events we have had now.

Challengers, Masters, Champions Tiers

The Champions Tour will be split into three distinct tiers. Challengers will have open qualifications followed by challenger weekend events. Those that finish at the top will move on to the more elusive Masters events that will be held three times a year.

For those aiming high, Champions, which will be held at the end of 2021, will be a one-off event that will see 16 of the world’s best teams compete for the status of a Champion. The Champions event can be qualified via Masters events, attaining Circuit Points, as well as a Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ).
