The VALORANT world is unfortunately seeing a road block in the journey of one of its fastest rising superstars. Patiphan “Patiphan” Chaiwong of X10 Esports out of Thailand has announced a break from competitive VALORANT for an unforeseen amount of time. This comes at a time where the team represented the SEA region during Masters Reykjavik and are gearing up for Stage 3 of the VCT.

Patiphan taking a break from competitive VALORANT

The news was broken by Patiphan himself. The former Overwatch player, known for his time on Talon Esports, represented his country in the Overwatch World Cup of 2018. When VALORANT released, he made the switch like many other professional players. While Iceland saw an early exit for X10 Esports, Patiphan has seen nine 1st place finishes throughout his career thus far.

Now, a wrist issue is keeping him from competing. In the Twitlonger shared by Patiphan, he stated:

First of all, I won’t be able to make Berlin run with the boys due to my wrist injury. I’ve been playing with it for 7 months now and it’s time to actually take care of myself. I know I shouldn’t be playing these past months, but I just couldn’t stop overthinking so I decided to go as far as I could and I guess this is my limit now. The injury doesn’t affect my performance at all but it’s all about my confidence. Lastly I’m staying with the team and hopefully I’ll come back sooner.

I’m sorry that I forced myself and let you all down, See you all at worlds.

During this break, it has been reported that X10’s coach will act as a substitute. Yuttanagorn “Zeus” Kaewkongyai joined X10 in January as a coach. He will now be given the opportunity to coach his players in-game, fighting for their chance at another Masters event. Best of luck to the team going forward and we hope for a strong return for Patiphan.
