G2 Esports Announces New Female VALORANT Roster

On October 19, 2021 at 12:47 AM GMT+8, G2 Esports announced the signing of their first all-female VALORANT team, G2 Gozen. According to the organization’s website, this move is part of their end goal to “empower men and women to compete alongside each other in mixed leagues.” 

Most of the players in the roster used to play under the XSET Female banner before being let go and transitioning into THE ORIGINALS. The team competed at the first EMEA Game Changers and managed to secure a top 4 finish before falling to TENSTAR Nova in the semifinals. 

G2 Esports CEO, Carlos “Ocelote” Rogriguez, also made this comment in conjunction with the announcement. “To me they aren’t a female team, they are our VALORANT team.  At G2, we build teams and bring in players based on skill and brand fit. These are amongst the best female players in the world and we’re proud to have them.  We’ll support them all the way, as we support all our teams, and look forward to seeing them grow and kick some ass as part of the G2 army.“

No word yet on whether G2 Gozen will be competing in the upcoming EMEA Game Changers tournament. We’ll keep you updated with regards to further developments.
